James "Gentleman Jim" Corbett rose to boxing fame in 1892 after knocking out the popular John Sullivan in a 21-round match. This victory named him World Heavyweight Champion, a title he held until 1897. Concentrating on strategy over force, Corbett's analytical style and innovative defense techniques famously started the movement that became known as scientific boxing. Although his career spanned only 20 fights, he was inducted into the Boxing Hall of Fame in 1954. Unlike Young's other boxing subjects shown mid-swing or after a knockdown, this cast presents Corbett in a protective stance, forever preserving the strategy that made him a champion.
