Details
The large jar is decorated with panels including scenes of two scholars playing chess, ladies resting in a gazebo and gentlemen riding horses. The scenes are incorporated into a continuous riverscape with further depictions of ladies and scholars at play beneath a stylized geometric floral band at the shoulder. The base is unglazed.
