The vase is skillfully decorated in bright enamels with a multitude of colourful butterflies amongst sprigs of white, pink and pale blue prunus blossom between decorative borders to the base and mouth rim. The shoulder is further embellished with an iron-red band of lotus heads on scrolling leafy tendrils interspersed with gilt shou characters. The turquoise base has an apocryphal six-character Kangxi mark.
