F.C. Alves and P.C. Alves, From East to West, Lisbon, 2016, p. 61, no. 22 where the authors note that this scene is based on an engraving of 'Port de mer, par temps de brouillard' by Jacques Aliamet (1726-88), after an oil painting by Claude Joseph Vernet (1714-89). The original painting by Vernet is in the Museum of Fine Arts, in Algiers.
