After the success of the two haute couture pieces by Chanel and Yves Saint Laurent in the Exceptional sale which took place on the 22nd November, we are pleased to present a wider selection from the same collection of extraordinary haute couture in our online sale. Alongside couturiers Yves Saint Laurent and Karl Lagerfeld for Chanel will this time be other great masters of the 20th century such as Christian Lacroix, John Galliano for Dior, Hubert de Givenchy, Jean-Louis Scherrer and Valentino among others. This world-class wardrobe, assembled with passion is also part of the wonderful “From Beijing to Versailles, the V.W.S collection” to be sold by Christie’s in December.
More than 110 pieces dating mainly from the 1970s-80s-90s are available for bidding to our collectors and elegant women alike, illustrating the exceptional know-how, creativity and brilliance of haute couture, especially in Paris. The most important pieces are a black velvet ensemble by Givenchy dating from 1979 adorned with red lips, a homage to Schiaparelli, a sumptuous suede and mink jacket entirely adorned with jewels by Lesage from the fall-winter 1984-1985 collection by Yves Saint Laurent, a purple velvet dress also embroidered by Lesage by Karl Lagerfeld for Chanel, fall-winter 1988-1989. Both superb and exuberant, Christian Lacroix’s embroidered evening outfits from the 1990s are as seductive as they are timelessly elegant such as this black woolen coat adorned with gold buttons, the epitome of the Chanel style from 1995-1996. Also from the 1990s, a magnificent coat by Alexandre McQueen in almond green satin and black lace from 1997-1998 is among the most rare and interesting lots of the sale.
