Lot Essay

A summer holiday on the Baltic coast with his sister.

Maja has been holidaying with Einstein and Elsa: 'We are very happy here together. Sadly it is almost over'. Einstein asks his brother-in-law to obtain three complete, detailed quotations for installing electric lights [in their house in Florence], emphasising that the specifications must be in sufficient detail that 'there remains no possibility of subsequently exceeding the quote. You see, one has to be very wary there, as I know from close friends'.
