Set of dinnerware with designs by Rockwell Kent after his own illustrations for Herman Melville’s Moby-Dick. Semi-vitreous china with walnut brown designs, glazed. Produced by Vernon Kilns in Vernon, California from 1938-1939.

Comprises: a serving plate of 16 5/8” diameter, three serving plates of 13 15/16” diameter, a serving plate of 12 3/8” diameter, 5 dinner plates of 9 1/2” diameter, a side plate of 6 1/2” diameter, a soup bowl (small edge chip), 5 tea cups with saucers, 2 additional saucers one of which is red pattern rather than brown, 4 egg cups, and a serving bowl of 11 ¼” diameter.
