Lot Essay

The present painting was once part of the collection of Professor Bernard Nevill, design director at Liberty during the 1960s and 1970s. It hung in the drawing room of his Arts-and-Crafts home, West House, in Chelsea, made famous as the home of Uncle Monty in the 1987 cult classic Withnail and I.
