The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.

Oil on canvas. The canvas has not been relined and is slightly loose on the stretcher. The varnish has discoloured. There are two small holes to the upper left side. There is a scratch, with minor associated loss to the left shirt sleeve. On closer inspection there is a fine pattern of craqelure to the body and palette. There are consequently scattered losses of paint. Examination under UV light reveals minor scattered retouching, e.g. to the face. Not examined out of the frame.
