Lot Essay

Charles Holl was a prestigious French jeweller whose workshop was known for manufacturing jewels for Cartier and Van Cleef & Arpels, during the early to mid-twentieth century. Founded in May 1917, Charles Holl had ateliers in both Paris and Strasbourg, expanding to New York in the 1930s. Holl was especially revered for his handbags, boxes and works in gold.
