Lot Essay

This presumably undescribed print comes from an early medical textbook, visualising the general phenomenon of conjoined twins and detailing the joint body section between the twins (1), the umbilical cords (2) and the placenta (3).
In our opinion, the sheet is most likely to be a paper of the first half of the 16th century, but it is difficult to determine whether the print is of Italian, French, Netherlandish or German origin.
