The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.

- trimmed to or on the borderline on three sides, retaining a fillet of blank paper outside the borderline below.
- the paper slightly toned.
- remains of old paper hinges at the sheet corners verso, with minor, associated pale staining recto.
