Lot Essay

The Rolex Day-Date was launched in 1956 and was presented with the characteristic President bracelet. This dazzling example is from the early 1960’s, the present platinum Day-Date’s most striking feature is its rare dial that has an engraving of an unusual geometric line pattern that has earned it the nickname "Brooklyn Bridge". The dial has 8 round cut diamond hour markers and two baguette-cut diamonds at 6 and 9 o’clock. Further, the platinum bezel is also decked with 44 round cut diamonds. It’s no surprise that this is a much sought-after piece by discerning collectors.
