Lot Essay

According to the Archives of Vacheron Constantin, the present pendant watch with cal. RA 11''' was manufactured in 1899.

The cuvette of this attractive watch is engraved “Renée Odier Genève 11 Mai 1899”, possibly Marie Louise Renée Odier (Geneva 1847-1932).

The name Odier is closely linked to Geneva. Originating from Pont-en-Royans, France, the family is first documented as being in Geneva circa 1714. Members of the family held positions as politicians, doctors, artists, engineers, and then bankers. Charles Odier became associated with the bank Lombard, Bonna & Cie in 1830, which then became Lombard, Odier & Cie.
