Barstool from Kunstverein's renowned speakeasy bar, BYU, designed by Guy de Cointet's collaborator, Robert Wilhite.

Robert Wilhite, born in 1946, boasts a career spanning over 46 years as both an artist and a designer. His diverse practice encompasses everything from presenting works through hypnosis to establishing a flatware company, embodying principles of modern design and conceptual art in a multifaceted manner that defies easy classification.

In 2014, Wilhite integrated De Stijl/Constructivist design elements into the interior and concept of "Bobs Your Uncle" (BYU), a clandestine speakeasy-style bar seamlessly integrated into Kunstverein. Operating every Thursday evening from 2014 to 2016, BYU provided a platform for emerging artists and performers, offering many their initial exposure in the Netherlands. Its legacy was succeeded by KW Berlin’s Pogo Bar in 2016.

Wilhite continues his creative endeavors from his studio in Los Angeles. His artworks and designs grace the permanent collections of esteemed institutions such as the Cooper-Hewitt National Design Museum in New York City, the Museum of Modern Art (MOMA) in NYC, the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA), the Centre Pompidou in Paris, the Jumex Collection in Mexico City, and MAMCO in Geneva, Switzerland.
