This condition report was prepared by Simon Parkes Art Conservation, Inc.:
This work has a rather heavy wax lining, and is stretched onto a mechanical stretcher. The painting has become dirty over time. Under ultraviolet light, one can see retouches in the right side of the man’s face, in the right side of the brim of his hat, and in a few spots in the upper left sky. The face of the boy and puppy are unrestored. The spaniel on the left has two spots in the face. There are numerous retouches in the blue color beneath the child’s elbow, extending into the lower right corner. There are retouches in the dark shoulder of the boy’s red coat, in the center of the right side, and in the right side of the man’s coat. The retouches have not noticeably discolored. Although the lining is not ideal, the work can be hung in its current state.
