Condition report
A Christie's specialist may contact you to discuss this lot or to notify you if the condition changes prior to the sale.
The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
This report was prepared by Simon Parkes Art Conservation Inc.:
This painting is stretched on its original stretcher. The paint layer is clean. This is quite a large brushy work for the artist and the dark blue in the upper sky is intentionally broad and seems to be unabraded. No visible retouches have been applied here or anywhere else within the picture. There is a horizontal line through the blue mound of snow in the lower right which corresponds to a heavier grain in the canvas but there are no retouches here.
