TWO BRONZE ARCHAISTIC WINE VESSELS, JIA AND JUE, AND A BRONZE CHAMPION VASE

The jia is raised on three tapering blade shaped supports and is cast with taotie masks with rounded eyes separated by three flanges on the body, with a loop handle on one side, and a pair of capped posts rising from the rim. The jue is carved around the sides with a geometric band of archaistic decoration and is similarly raised on three curved feet and decorated with a handle and two uncapped posts. The champion vase is in the shape of two large cylinders, joined at the bottom by a mythical bear, and a stylized eagle with spread wings standing on its head. The top of both cylinders is carved with an archaistic inscription.
