A closely-related pair of blue and white barrel-form jars and covers sold at Christie's New York, 13 September 2012, lot 1449. Compare a related blue and white barrel-form jar, with similar decoration, and gilt finial, illustrated by Christiaan J.A. Jörg in Chinese Ceramics in the Collection of the Rijksmuseum, Amsterdam, London, 1997, p. 110, pl. 106, where Jörg notes that these barrel-form or drum-shaped jars were referred to as a 'candy pot' by Dutch collectors.
