The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
We have sought to record changes in the condition of these pieces acquired after their initial manufacture.
One of the figural vases:
- There are traces of a pigment on a triangular area to the interior of the mouth rim.
- Otherwise, it is in overall good condition.
The other figural vase:
- There is a small shallow chip to the interior of the rim.
- There is a crack running through the base measuring approx. 13 cm long.
- There is a a further hairline crack in the form of an X to the interior cavetto.
The elephant vase:
- It has been broken in several pieces and restuck with extensive associated overpainting and overspraying to approx. half of the surface.
- There are cracks visible to the interior of the vase.
- Some old restorations are visible to the exterior of the vase.
- There is a partial label to the base with three Chinese characters.
The covers:
- All covers are possibly matched.
- One cover with several chips to the underside of the rim, the largest measuring 2 cm x 1 cm.
- One cover with restoration to the rim measuring approx. 6 cm x 0.5 cm and further extensive restoration to the finial that has probably been reattached with an associated large circular area of restoration surrounding the finial measuring approx. 2 cm deep.
- There is an additional star-crack to the side of the vase, measuring approx. 12 cm long.
The three jars and covers with general age-related surface wear, small enamel flakes and scratches as can be expected.
