Sale Overview
Christie’s Wine Department in America is delighted to present Bordeaux Classics: The Masterpiece Collection. This Single Owner collection features some of the greatest wines ever produced in Bordeaux. Of the many highlights on offer, the sale features over twenty-five cases of Château Mouton Rothschild 1982, ten cases of Château Lafite Rothschild 1995, ten cases of Château Haut-Brion 1995, alongside multiple vintages of Petrus, Cheval Blanc and Latour. The collector had residences in the United States and South America and this collection was recently removed from a large estate south of Santiago de Chile, deep in wine country. It was shipped by air, under temperature-control, into Christie’s warehouse.
The majority of the collection was purchased in the late 1990’s from a reputable merchant in London and stored since in two temperature and humidity-controlled cellars – untouched for around thirty years. Much of the collection is offered in its original wooden cases and the collector went to great lengths to ensure his collection was stored correctly in his custom-built cellars. This attention to detail paid off and is evident in the excellent levels across the collection. It is very rare to see wines of this quality and maturity in such quantities with exceptional provenance. In addition to the Bordeaux, the sale also features superb Champagne from Krug, Roederer and Dom Pérignon as well as a rare offering of the legendary Fonseca 1927 vintage Port.
