It is with immense pride that Christie’s present, The Cellar of a Meticulous Wine Lover. A great friend for over a decade, this is a wine lover with a passion to learn and taste the very finest wine the world has to offer.

The meticulous nature of this collector is one key feature that sets them apart, with purchasing notes on nearly all of the cellar. This attention to detail translates into fastidious sourcing, with all younger wines purchased on release, from the most reputed British and Hong Kong merchants; and with the collector also purchasing wines from only the most noted of auctions with exceptional provenance.

Generosity is another key feature of this collector, which we have been a very fortunate recipient of on numerous occasions. So often are they sharing truly spectacular wines with a humble modesty, just enjoying what is in the glass and the effect it has on fellow wine lovers at the table.

Although Bordeaux and the great wines of Australia are their first love, it is the spell of Burgundy that has focused much of their attention over the last decade or so, with a particular focus on the great names from the Côte de Nuits such as Domaine de la Romanée Conti, Roumier, Dujac and many more. It is here that this sale is focused, with the collector realising they have enough wine to last them a few lifetimes! They have taken the decision, with a very heavy heart, to say goodbye to some of these younger vinous treasures as well as some historic icons.
