Christie’s will donate 100% of the buyer’s premium for this lot to Roald Dahl’s Marvellous Children’s Charity (registered UK charity number 1137409). Lot Essay

Emma Lake is an intermedia artist, predominantly working with the media of paint, sound and performance. Illustration is fundamental to her work as her practice is influenced by her synaesthesia, correlating sound and emotional response to colour and form. She utilises recurring characters to illustrate and translate this intangible cohesion of colour and sound. In, ’The Constant’, her recurring characters act as liminal bodies, personifying sensory cohesion whilst simultaneously acting as her companions. Lake was a student of the Fine Art MA at The University of Edinburgh from 2017 - 2022 and begins the Christie’s Graduate Programme in August 2022.
