Glenn Randall designed a limited number tables identical to the present lot for a select group his esteemed clientele. These chic tables, made of petrified wood and striking Italian marble, were supplied to top clients like Wendell and Dorothy Cherry, for Gerard Hochschild's glamorous Paris apartment, and to top dealers such as French and Company and Mallet. The stone was sourced in Pietrasanta, a coastal town in the Lucca province of Tuscany and sent to firms in New York and England to complete the commissions.

Overall in good, decorative condition and ready to place. Very heavy. The marble with natural inclusions, scattered light surface scratches, small nicks and 'nibbles' to edges. With some scattered restorations, as to be expected, including a repaired crack with associated infill to one corner; with small infilled cracks to legs; with some other minor infill along the rim under the ormolu mount, not extensive. The top of petrified wood set into resin, and backed by slate; with some natural inclusions, surface scratches and scuffs consistent with use and age, and with some very minor nicks and 'nibbles' to edges. The ormolu with typical rubbing, oxidation, tarnish and verdigris.
