The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.

The original canvas has been relatively recently re-lined and as such maintains a good tension and remains structurally stable. The artist’s painterly technique remains evident with much of the important modelling and colouring well preserved. Ultra-violet fluorescence examination confirms the density of the aged varnish which partly impairs the reading. There appear to be some small scattered retouching.
