Born in 1989, Hong Kong artist Cheuk Ka-wai graduated from the Department of Fine Arts at the Chinese University of Hong Kong. Apart from introducing a refreshing sense of animation, her belief in a dimension that rests ‘between reality and illusion’ results in the imaginative coupling of quaint objects and fresh embellishments. With Cheuk’s meticulous fine-brush technique, the idiosyncratic and whimsical pairings of objects create ‘relationships of both the deliberate and fortuitous nature’.
