Christie’s Wine Department in America is pleased to announce Fine and Rare Wines Online: Featuring the Ruan Collection. The auction offers several hundred lots from the greatest winemaking regions around the globe.

Over 170 lots come from the collection of John Ruan III, a renowned businessman and philanthropist. Mr. Ruan was a pillar of the Des Moines community and he joined the Ruan family businesses in 1953 and guided them to record growth and success. Those businesses included: Ruan Transportation Management Systems, which employs over 5,500 team members operating a nationwide fleet of nearly 14,000 trucks and trailers; Bankers Trust, the largest privately owned community bank in the state, with over $ 6 billion in assets; and, Ruan Incorporated, which manages the Ruan office building complex in downtown Des Moines.

In addition to those business leadership positions, Mr. Ruan served as Chairman of the Board of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and also served as Chairman of the World Food Prize Foundation for two decades. Under his leadership and guidance, the annual $250,000 award for combating hunger in the world, came to be recognized globally as the "Nobel Prize for Food and Agriculture."

Highlights from the Ruan Collection include full cases of all of the 1st Growths from the best vintages of the 1990s and 2000s, purchased upon release. From the Right Bank, there are two lots of the superlative Petrus 2000. Many of the Napa Valley’s finest wines are on offer including Diamond Creek, Heitz Martha’s, Joseph Phelps Insignia, and Opus One. All stored in temperature and humidity controlled wine cabinets, the levels and labels are exceptional.
