Sale Overview
Christie’s Wine Department in America is delighted to announce Fine and Rare Wines Online: Featuring Two Superlative Collections.
Over 140 lots are offered from The Quintessential Modern Cellar. Christie’s first offered selections from this monumental collection in a single owner evening sale in October of 2007. The sale realized over $3.5 million, achieving 191% against the low estimate. 16 years later, further lots from this collection are once again being offered at Christie’s featuring a superb selection of the greatest French wines ever produced. Highlights include five decades of the First Growths, Burgundy including 1991 DRC Romanée Conti, and an expansive selection of Dom Pérignon with vintages spanning 1969 to 2004. Much of the collection is offered in its original wooden cases, original carton boxes, or original gift boxes. The collection was entirely purchased upon release and stored in an impeccable custom-built temperature and humidity-controlled cellar. Images of the cellar are featured in our online viewing room.
76 lots are offered from An Admirer of The Domaine. This collection of Domaine de la Romanée-Conti was entirely purchased upon release by the consignor and offers vintages from 2004 to 2014 from all of DRC’s Grand Cru Pinot Noir holdings. Highlights include 11 vintages of Romanée-Conti and superlative vintages of La Tâche, DRC’s other prized Monopole, including 2005, 2009, and 2010. This is a rare opportunity for collectors to acquire bottles from Burgundy’s most lauded domaine that have exceptional provenance and were stored with precision and care.
Elsewhere, the sale features a range of classic wines from some of Italy’s greatest producers, including Giacomo Conterno and Angelo Gaja.
