The Christie’s Wine & Spirits Department in New York is pleased to announce our online sale Fine & Rare Wines and Spirits Including Historic Madeira Direct from the Island. The standout section of the sale is no doubt over 130 lots of rare Madeira (lots 412-548). This is the largest offering of its kind ever to be sold in an online auction, and each bottle has perfect provenance. Of special note are bottles recently found in the old cellar of Henriques & Henriques, rare bottlings from the old Teixeira family stock, and historic very rare Madeiras from the Borges family reserves. In addition to the treasure trove of Madeira, this auction offers some fantastic Pre-Prohibition bottles that are standouts. An incredibly rare case of 1903 Mount Vernon Rye offered in its original wooden case and a demijohn of 1905 Twoplex Rye Whiskey in a wooden crate are two examples of hidden treasures now offered at auction. The entire whisky section is robust, with bottles from iconic producers all around the world, Scotland, the United States, Canada, and Japan. When it comes to Bordeaux, Christie’s has a plethora of bottles for collectors to bid on. Specifically important to note are several large format bottles of must have vintages, such as a double magnum of Petrus 1990 and Cristal 1990 Millennium Cuvée, an imperial of Haut-Brion 1995 and Yquem 1988, and a Jeroboam of Bollinger 1965. First Growths abound, so collectors need not look any further for desirable gems and collectible rarities.
