This October, First Open: Post-War and Contemporary Art Online, brings together an exciting selection of works by leading international artists of the 20th and 21st centuries at accessible price points. Highlights include works by Nicolas Party, Peter Saul, Eddie Martinez, Aboudia and Ai Weiwei.
We are delighted to offer 25 works sold to benefit Rays of Sunshine Children’s Charity. Founded in 2003, Rays of Sunshine brings joy to and brightens the lives of seriously ill young people and their families by offering a magical wish experience for those children with life-changing and life-threatening illnesses. Works that have been generously donated include paintings, sculptures and prints by leading British and international artists including Ella Kruglyanska, Michael Craig-Martin, Julian Opie, Bouke de Vires, Patrick Hughes and Yinka Shonibare.
Christie’s is proud to partner with Radiohead’s Thom Yorke to present six paintings by Stanley Donwood, who has collaborated with Radiohead to create their cover art since their 1996 album The Bends. Drawings, lyrics and digital art by both Stanley Donwood and Thom Yorke will be presented alongside the paintings in a special exhibition at Christie’s from 9 to 15 October.
Christie’s in collaboration with 1-54 Contemporary African Art Fair will be presenting Nigerian crypto-artist Osinachi's NFT series Different Shades of Water in First Open. The online NFT auction will mark the first NFT by a contemporary African artist offered by Christie’s in Europe and is the first NFT collaboration for 1-54. The digital artworks associated with the NFTs in Different Shades of Water will be exhibited at Somerset House 1-54 art fair from 14-17 October.
