Ten-page handwritten letter dated September 16th, 1910 from Chicago Cubs pitcher Orval Overall (1881-1947) to Cincinnati promoter D.A. Fletcher, regarding a post-season barnstorming series between major league stars of the day. Overall writes on behalf of the other Cubs, Brown, Kling, Evers Hoffman and myself…that you can depend on us absolutely. We are all tired of the persecutions we have been subjected to by organized base ball. The proposed All Star Series was quickly banned by baseball's National Commission (predecessor to the Baseball Commissioner) and players were forced to return any money they had accepted. Signed by both Orval Overall and by Hall of Famer Mordecai Brown (1876-1948) beneath. Written on The Hotel Somerset, New York stationary in black ink. Overall Good condition with foxing and a staple hole.
