The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
This painting shows some scattered droplet marks and smudges especially to the darker ground and the white tunic of both sitters. The moustache of the right hand side sitter is repainted. The white pigments are dulled and tarnished. This is especially visible in the lower parts of this work. The borders and edges are scuffed. The upper left corner has been torn and is now lacking.
