This painting is in overall good condition. There is one long vertical stain, which runs down the length of the painting, just behind the figure. This is visible in the catalogue image. There are further small areas of spot staining, but this is by far the largest. There are some small scuffs to the paper, the largest in the inscription in the upper margin of the folio. Again this is visible in the image. The back has a rough surface, consistent with it having been backed at some point, and the backing having been removed. There are some remains of red paper, and a later owner's inscription in pencil.
