Two Imari Dishes
Edo period (early 18th century)
The first circular dish decorated in iron-red, yellow, green, light blue, aubergine and black enamels and gilt on underglaze blue with chrysanthemums and an open fan with a shaped panel depicting pavilions, maple, pine and autumn flowers reserved against a geometric ground, the reverse with sprays of peony and chrysanthemum, a band of geometric design around the footring, a roundel enclosing a chrysanthemum spray to the base

The second dish with lobed rim decorated in iron-red, yellow, green, light blue, aubergine and black enamels and gilt on underglaze blue with two sprays of cherry blossom to the centre, surrounded by two panels with sprays of chrysanthemum and autumn flowers, divided by radiating narrower panels of geometric ground and plum with bamboo, three chrysanthemum flowerheads reserved, the reverse with sprays of plum and camellia
25.5cm. and 24.5cm. diam.
