Lot Essay
This work is sold with a certificate of authenticity signed by Raquel Arnaud, dated 12 November 2019, and numbered 15475. Camargo’s tabletop sculptures distill the profuse, iterative volumes of his reliefs, often isolating single geometric shapes—here, a flattened ovoid of polished black marble. Sliced obliquely, the sculpture generates a subtle chiaroscuro of surfaces that both absorb and reflect light, continuously mediating between the material and the immaterial. Elegantly elongated, the cut-out shape of this work gleams softly, its sloping surface a moving perceptual field of light and shadow.
