MARK OF LORENTZ HOFFMANN, KÖNIGSBERG, CIRCA 1675
On spreading base chased with auricular flowers repeated on the cover, the tapered body applied with a plaque depicting a bacchanal of putti, the scrolling handle applied with a beaded band repeated on the bifurcated thumbpiece, the hinged cover with bud finial, marked underneath, on foot-rim and cover-rim: maker; on foot-rim and cover bezel: French mark for foreign made item in use between 1819 and 1838
