Condition report
A Christie's specialist may contact you to discuss this lot or to notify you if the condition changes prior to the sale.
The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
53 x 43 cm.).
English
The painting is executed on an oak panel made up of a single board, it has not been cradled. The upper edge of the panel has a slight bevel. There is a slight convex curve to the panel. There is a minor loss to the lower left-hand corner of the panel and some small losses to the lower edge. The panel remains stable.
In natural light scattered retouching can be seen in the background, notably at upper right. The flesh tones have been retouched in the chest and neck, with some further scattered retouching in the face. The hair has been retouched following the thinning of the upper paint glazes, likely the result of a previous cleaning campaign, the earring remains partially visible.
Examination under UV light is hindered by a thick varnish.
In a modern gilt wood and stucco frame (approx. 53 x 43 cm.).
