Dans cette vue imaginaire, Cassas intègre le tombeau d’Antiochus Philopappus à Athènes, érigé au sommet de la colline des Muses au sud-ouest de l’Acropole d’Athènes entre 114 et 119 après J.-C. Si le monument est bien réel, Cassas prend la liberté de le déplacer sur le bord d’un rivage avec des archéologues en train d’étudier la sculpture en bas-relief qui représente Philipappus, le petit-fils du dernier roi grec de Commagène destitué en 72 après J.-C. et des autochtones enturbannés discutant au pied des ruines.
