Christie’s presents Meteorites from the collection of Michael Farmer, the first London online-only sale of rare meteorites.

Having travelled the world hunting for meteorites for decades, Michael Farmer has amassed an incredible collection. Here we present a curated selection of 84 remarkable highlights.

Included in the sale are a meteorite that contains the oldest matter mankind can touch, as well as one that comprises the raw ingredients of our planets. There are offerings of the Moon and the planet Mars, and meteorites studded with gems from outer space.

This sale offers spectacular examples of meteorites suited to any collection, available at a wide range of estimates, with the majority of the collection offered without reserve.

Leading the sale is the aesthetic main mass of the Santa Filomena Chondrite weighing nearly 85lbs (£150,000-£250,000), the largest stone meteorite recorded from Brazil. Covered in regmaglypts that formed during its fiery descent to earth, it was collected before being touched by rainfall, leaving its surface in pristine condition.
