This third and final auction, which coincides with the 40th anniversary of Margaret Thatcher’s historic election as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom on 3 May 1979, follows on from the successful sales of parts I and II held at Christie’s in 2015 as part of the arrangements following the death of Mrs Thatcher in 2013. This sale comprises 192 lots and includes political mementoes and personal possessions spanning Mrs Thatcher’s life and career. The contents of the sale including jewellery, clothes, handbags books, papers and furniture offering unique insights into the personal and public life of this political giant. Highlights of the sale include Mrs Thatcher’s ‘uniform’ jewellery, an amethyst set ring and ‘pebble’ bracelet which she was rarely seen without during her time in politics.
