Sale Overview
Featuring a selection of works from the 16th to the 19th Centuries from the Italian, French, Northern, and British schools, this online sale is led by two works from The Estates of Bernard and Helga Kramarksy: an important example of Guercino’s pen drawings; and a head study in red chalk by Giovanni Battista Tiepolo. Among the nineteenth-century works should be singled out a recently rediscovered watercolor by the German Romantic Caspar David Friedrich. The French section includes two gouaches by the 17th Century artist Pierre-Paul Sevin after Paolo Veronese’s monumental canvases of The Wedding at Cana and The Feast in the house of Levi; and a rediscovery by the French Rococo artist Jean Restout, The Rest on the Flight into Egypt.
