The rendering of the figures in this sheet, their faces drawn with short crescent shaped strokes, is characteristic for Diepenbeeck and can be seen in many of his drawings (see, for example, A frontispice design for the thesis of the Morel brothers, previously in the I.Q. van Regteren Altena Collection and sold at Christie's, London, 10 July 2014, lot 13; H.
