The canvas has been subject to relining; it is held under tension and remains stable. The paint layer remains stable, and the impasto has not been too adversly impacted by the reline. Examination in natural light shows some thinning to the yellow and orange tones. The dark over-layer of the background has thinned to allow the red ground to show through. The integrity of the artist’s painterly technique remains appreciable.
