Sale Overview
The Old Master Paintings and Sculpture online sale offers a broad selection of works across all schools of European painting and sculpture, from the 14th to the mid-19th century, with estimates ranging from £2,000 - £120,000. The Dutch school is well represented with a stylish Portrait of a gentleman by Johannes Verspronck, and an early Jan Steen of A fortune teller and peasants before an inn. Works by Thomas Gainsborough and Joseph Wright of Derby lead the charge for eighteenth-century English art, with the Italian school well represented by a group of Baroque paintings from the renowned collection of Barbara Piasecka Johnson. The French School is led by a monumental still life by Jean-Baptiste Monnoyer.
The Sculpture & Works of Art section is represented by a Madonna and Child Enthroned by Gregorio di Lorenzo and a beautiful parcel-gilt polychrome enamel tazza representing Moses and Jethro by the Master IC.
