The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
The painting presents very well, with the painterly execution and exactitude of detail fully appreciable.
The panel is made up of two boards, joined horizontally, beveled to the edges. In the past the join was supported by a strip of black canvas, however there has been some minor movement to the join and this is now divided. The panel remains stable. In natural light some associated restoration can be seen to the recto.
Examination in natural light shows some thinning to the blacks of the costume.
Examination under UV light reveals some retouching to the background to the left of the sitter's face, in the black of her proper right sleeve and between the points of her collar, in the flowers and the glove she holds. There are some minor scattered points of retouching on the face. It is possible that there was one older restoration of campaign in the flesh tones. The paint remains stable.
