The Death of Ajax

The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.

In addition to the catalogue description:
- with narrow to thread margins, trimmed to the borderline in places.
- brown staining at the lower sheet corners, some minor staining elsewhere.
- some stray blue ink in the lower right subject.
- a vertical paper split (circa 33mm.) at left of Ajax's shield.
- a spot of surface dirt (wax?) on the shield verso, rubbed and discoloured recto.
- a circa 50 mm. cut in the borderline at the centre left sheet edge.
- a couple of smalldefects and repairs along the sheet edges.
- a soft vertical central drying crease, mainly visible verso.
- remains of an old oatmeal backing sheet along the sheet edges verso.
- various brown stains verso.
- other minor defects
