The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
The painting is executed on a single sheet of copper. The sheet is not unifromly flat, but is stable. The paint layer is stable and under a clear varnish that has yellowed slightly with age. There are scattered small pigment losses, primarily to the edges, including one to the left edge at center. There is an overall uneven network of craquelure. Under natural light, retouching to address minor pigment loss and to minimize the appearance of craquelure is visible. Inspection under ultraviolet light confirms retouching, but is largely impeded by an opaque varnish. The work should be hung in its present state. The painting is offered with a black painted wood frame.
