The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
The canvas has been relined and is stable on its support. The paint layer is stable and has a clear varnish. There are scattered areas of craquelure and pigment losses, most notably to the lower portion of the composition and to the table. There are further losses to the right edge at center. There is a vertical line of disturbance at the lower right. Under natural light, scattered retouching is visible, including along the right edge. Inspection under ultraviolet light confirms the aforementioned retouching. The work can be hung in its present state. The painting is offered with a carved giltwood frame.
