Sale Overview
This June Christie’s presents our first Old Masters: No Reserves sale, which spans five centuries of European artistic production and will be offered entirely without reserve. Old Masters: No Reserves offers the unique opportunity to acquire works from the Byzantine period through the Baroque and beyond at truly accessible price points. Highlights of the sale include a painting by Ginevra Cantofoli, a female artist of the seventeenth century who trained alongside Elisabetta Sirani; a beautiful vanitas still life by Gerrit van Vucht; a rare surviving oil sketch by Theodoor van Loon and an attractive pair of panels depicting Saint Peter and Saint Paul by an anonymous Italian artist active at the end of the fifteenth century. Sculpture features an intricately carved fruit wood comb and a polychrome and gilt relief of Saint Jerome.
