Christie’s is pleased to present The Opulent Cellar: Online, a meticulously assembled single‑owner collection distinguished by its breadth across the world’s most celebrated wine regions.

The collector’s journey began in the 1980s, initially rooted in a passion for cognac and whisky, before gradually evolving into fine wine. By the mid‑1990s, he began systematically building his cellar, with acquisitions reaching their peak over the past fifteen years. His preference for full‑bodied, rich and intensely expressive wines is evident throughout the collection, most notably in his enduring affinity for the Rhône Valley.

The Rhône forms the core of the sale with over 400 lots, featuring both Northern and Southern regions. Highlights include an exceptional collection of Jean‑Louis Chave Cuvée Cathelin from 1990 to 2000 and a rare full case of Hermitage Rouge 1977. Château de Beaucastel is particularly well represented, with over 50 lots spanning 1989 to 2020, offered in multiple formats up to Methuselah.  Furthermore, E. Burgundy aficionados will be captivated by a stellar selection of Domaine de la Romanée‑Conti represented by La Tâche, Richebourg and Grands‑Echézeaux, together with a rare selection of Marc de Bourgogne from the 2000s.

Outside of France, the sale also features renowned wineries from Italy and Spain, including Sassicaia, Gaja, Giacomo Conterno, Vega Sicilia and Dominio de Pingus.
